A jaunt across the Irish sea

Well, I could hardly title it “Back to the Isle of Man”, that’s been done, I’m sure. After returning from the Lake District and bidding farewell to our traveling companions, we hopped on a train to catch a ferry to the Isle of Man. It was a bit of a novelty, I’ve been to the Island a few times, but the train to the ferry is rarely operational. This time it took us right alongside the ship, so we didn’t have to haul luggage too far. The trip from Heysham to Douglas was pretty uneventful and by the time you clear Morecambe Bay, you are nearly there.  The Isle of Man is primarily about family for me. I have relatives there and great memories of previous trips both solo and with my own family. We stayed only a few days, but managed to get in some sightseeing around Laxey, where the weather was as lovely as the scenery and the people friendly. I wish that we had more time to explore the extensive walking trails on this beautiful island, but this was a brief jaunt. Before we left, we had a great time reconnecting with our Island family and an interesting time trying to buy Tartan. Don’t try to shop on a Monday!
