Sydney Stop over

After roughly nineteen hours of air travel, many espressos and a distressing number of tasteless airplane meals, we finally arrived in Sydney on October 11th just before noon. After quickly sorting out transportation, we headed into the City to find our hotel. Arriving three hours before check in presented some challenges, namely that my jet lagged, sleep deprived self really, really wanted a shower and a long nap. Instead, we dropped off our luggage and set off to while away the time until we could claim our room. Honestly, I don’t recall most of the afternoon as one street blurred into another, until my legs demanded a rest and we stumbled upon The Resch House. It was here that we discovered our first taste of Sydney craft beer and Waygu beef pies, hot from the oven. It was a little slice of heaven. We managed to stretch out our stay for an hour or so, wandered a bit more and finally headed back to the hotel. Once settled in the room and, in my case, flaked out on the bed, there was little desire to venture out again. About the time I was ready to cocoon myself under the duvet, Rachel generously offered to go out, get the lay of the land and find sustenance. I offered to nap. We had a quiet evening in the hotel trying to stay up as late as we could, making it until a little after nine p.m before surrendering to the need for sleep. It was a good thing, because we had a lot of plans for the next couple of days.
